Beaucoup de 1ère course, Peter GETHIN, Clay REGAZZONI, François CEVERT en F1. Grille limitée a 20 places. Mais fait triste..... la mort au 23ème tours de Piers COURAGE..... Pôle et victoire de Jochen RINDT, meilleur tour pour Jacky ICKX......RINDT super avec sa LOTUS modifié, 72C mais ICKX sans une crevaison l'aurait peut être menacé....qui saura.....
Abandon au 2ème tour, de Chris AMON, embrayage, au 3ème tour, Dan GURNEY, distribution, au 19ème tour, sortie de piste de Peter GETHIN, dans le 23ème tour, abandon se Jo SIFFERT, moteur mais surtout accident mortel de Piers COURAGE..... Au 24ème tour, on arrêtait pas la course en ce temps là, Jackie OLIVER, abandon, moteur, bielle, au 27ème tour, George EATON, réservoir percé et au 32ème tour pour sa 1ère, François CEVERT, moteur, embiellage....
