1ère course d'Emerson FITTIPALDI et d'une SURTEES.... Pôle et victoire de Jochen RINDT mais meilleur tour pour Jack BRABHAM.... Jochen RINDT fut d'abord disqualifié pour aileron non conforme puis réhabilité. .....Jackie ICKX partit en tête mais abandonne, BRABHAM avait course gagnée quand dans le dernier tour, a court de carburant son moteur perdit de la puissance et c'est RINDT qui souffla cette victoire sa 3ème consécutive.....
